Being the first country in the world ever to host the Youth
Olympic Games, Singapore has created a three-dimensional virtual
world called Singapore 2010 Odyssey.
The youth of today are no strangers to the Internet and social
networking. This is why IDA and the Singapore Youth Olympic Games
Organising Committee decided to use Singapore 2010 Odyssey as an
avenue to unite young athletes and spectators outside the sporting
arena.
You can explore your virtual surroundings on foot or by flight
through a personalised avatar. You can chat with people you
meet along the way, participate in weekly contests, and perform
simple actions such as dance, laugh and wave.
The aim of Singapore 2010 Odyssey is to get youths to interact
and engage in virtual activities based on the Olympic values of
Excellence, Friendship and Respect. Users can also compete in
in-world games such as archery and swimming, modeled after various
Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games sports.
Overseas guests can use it to learn more about Singapore, its
culture and unique landmarks, while local youths can learn more
about other countries and their cultures by interacting online with
our foreign visitors.
You can even stand to win US$13,000 worth of cash and prizes by
taking part in the various events and contests related to the
Singapore 2010 Odyssey.
To access this virtual world, all you have to do is to register
at www.singapore2010odyssey.sg. Download a
software package and install it on your computer. Currently, only
Windows-based computers are supported.
Moderators are available in the virtual world if you need
assistance. Helpdesk support is also available by phone at (65)
66221666 from 8.30a.m. – 6.00p.m. (Singapore time,GMT+8) on
Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays. You can also email
